Jana Kurilova, Provisional Psychologist

Jana is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. Her credentials include an Honours B.A. degree in Psychology and a M.Sc. degree in Counselling Psychology, both from the University of Calgary. Jana has experience working in community, school, private practice, and clinical settings, and also has an extensive research background. She has been involved in numerous studies of child development and parental mental health, and her graduate and undergraduate thesis research explored relationships between mindfulness and psychological well-being.

Jana has a particular interest in adolescent and young adult mental health, but works with individuals of all ages experiencing various difficulties that may be negatively impacting their well-being and quality of life. These include, but are not limited to, struggles related to depression, anxiety, stress, disordered eating, self-esteem, and life transitions. In her work with clients, Jana is guided by a primarily person-centered perspective and adapts her approach according to each individual's unique needs.

Jana recognizes the importance of finding a psychologist who is a good fit, since a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to positive therapy outcomes. Therefore, Jana offers a free 20-minute consultation, in person or by phone, to help you determine if working with her would be a good fit and answer any questions you may have.
